HOW CAN WE BUILD UP OUR SELF-ESTEEM?
Last week I wrote a post about appearance vs personality, and thank goodness personality came on top. We all need to remember that beauty is what is on the inside rather than what is on the outside. But sometimes it is harder to see the things about ourselves that we can’t see with our eyes. We need to dig a little deeper and see ourselves for what we are on the inside. How do you keep yourself feeling confident, kind and have a high self-esteem?
Keep Positive Mindset
A positive mindset is important as it will make you view yourself in a different way so that you can have more confidence. Having a negative view of yourself is the worst thing you can do- I know it’s so easily done and I am guilty of it too. But whenever I see something I don’t like, I’ll often also say something I do like. It will change your perspective on yourself for the better.
Surround Yourself With People Who Love You
It is so important to hang around with people that will bring you up rather than bring you down. The people that you see regularly will have a huge impact on the way that you view yourself and if they are always negative then this will have a negative impact on you. You definitely need to cut these people out of your life. I have done this and it feels so good- even though it can be a tough decision to make at times.
Yoga is amazing at remembering how important it is to love yourself before other people. It is a great way to keep your mindset positive. When I exercise regularly I can really see the difference, my head is clearer and I just feel better about myself and not feel so guilty if I want to eat some crisps at the end of the day. It really helps to know that you are caring for your body and making sure that it is the strongest it can be.
You can keep a gratitude log of everything amazing you have done that day or anything you have achieved that day, week or month. It is great to look back and see all the amazing things that you have done and it also makes you view yourself in a positive way. I always add this to my bullet journal, so that I have a log of everything that I am grateful for and it’s a great to look back over those things when you are feeling vulnerable.
Look After Yourself
It’s always good to find ways to relax and pamper yourself. It makes you feel good and helps your skin glow. Face masks and baths are always a great way to relax- especially products from Lush. I also have found art to be a great way to relax and focus my mind on positive things rather than focusing on the negatives.
