Changes I Want To Make To My Evening Routine

I used to have a very strong evening routine until I hit university and my sleep patterns went all over the place. It didn’t help that the fire alarms always used to go off at stupid o’clock in the morning. Oh, the joys of university. But now that I need more structure in my life as I need to get up early that means having an evening routine. I strive off a routine but I am bad at keeping to it. I don’t know why. It should also help my morning routine as I will be organised before I go to sleep so in the morning I will have everything ready. I am not a morning person so I need the evening to make it as easy as possible for me to get up.

Changes I Want To Make To My Evening Routine

Have A Set Time To Go To Bed

I am so bad at sticking to a time to go to bed, I always get distracted by a TV show that I get into or I get into the trap of scrolling Instagram and Twitter. I need to make sure that I have a consistent time that I go to bed, I won’t miss anything as I can always catch up on anything I have missed the next day.

Don’t Bring My Phone With Me

I think this is one of the worst habits that I have bringing my phone to bed. I always use the excuse that I need it as my alarm to get up but that is such a lie, I have an alarm clock that I can set every evening so I actually don’t need to bring my phone with me at all. It is also really bad to be looking at a phone screen at night as it doesn’t allow your brain to relax and switch off.

Read 30 Mins Before Going To Bed

So I am determined to swap out my phone for a book. I think this would be a much better use of my time than scrolling aimlessly on Instagram and Twitter and there are so many books that I want to read this year so it’s about time I start reading them.

Get my clothes ready the night before

I hate scrambling to find clothes in the morning; I am already in a sleep-daze so this added pressure of finding clothes is just too much for me at times. I will start to reduce that stress by deciding what to wear that morning the night before.

Write In My Bullet Journal

Before bed, it is a good idea to reflect on the day that has been and plan the day for tomorrow. I will start adding some things to my to-do list so that it is not in my mind so that my body can switch off and actually get ready to go to sleep. This will also ensure that I am able to have a productive following day.

Make sure my bed is made

There is nothing more amazing than getting into a bed made up; well I don’t think so anyway. Those small touches make me happy and I need to make sure that I do them. I never make my bed in the morning, (I can’t function without my morning cuppa) so I think I shall start doing it before I get in it.
